My name is Jonas Stålhand and I grew up in Luleå in North Sweden. I studied mechanical engineering at Luleå University of Technology and graduated as MSc in 1997. After my graduation I was employed by Saab Technologies in Linköping and worked in the Flight Test Department with flight mechanics, flight control system, and handling qualities for the Swedish Fighter JAS 39 Gripen. In May 2000 I enrolled as PhD student at the Division of Mechancis at Linköping University. In June 2005 I defended my thesis: Arterial Mechanics - Noninvasive identification of constitutive parameters and residual stress.
Currently, I divide my time between research and teaching. I am examiner for a project course in the final year of the Mecahincal Engineering programme and for a course in biomechanics. In addition, I am also the principle supervisor for one PhD student and co-supervisor for two others.
My main fields of interest are mechanical modelling of soft tissues, smooth muscle contraction, and continuum mechanics.
